Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a waiting list for new clients?

I do not keep a waiting list for new clients in my practice. I regularly update my website home page and my voicemail to keep my availability up to date. I am currently accepting new clients.

Do you meet in person / offer remote sessions?

Yes! I am able to meet in person with clients in my office space at 24 Front Street in Exeter, NH. I am also able to meet by video through my Doxy platform.

Do you have appointments outside of school hours?

Yes! I offer late afternoon/early evening appointments and weekend appointments to maximize the opportunity for my clients to meet outside of school hours. These appointment times are very popular and tend to run full.

I keep a waiting list among my active clients for appointment times outside of school hours. As one opens up, it will be offered to the first active client on the waiting list.

Do you take health insurance? What is your fee?

I am in network with Anthem / BCBS plans in New England. I am not currently in network with other health insurance plans.

My fee per typical therapy hour (45 min) is $150. The fee scale for service ranges from $100 - $200 depending on the length of the session and the service provided. Superbills are provided for clients to submit for out of network reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours’ advance notice to cancel or change a scheduled appointment. Clients receive appointment reminders 48 hours and 1 hour in advance of their appointments. The fee for late cancellations or missed appointments is $75, unless we both agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control (e.g., sudden illness, extraordinary weather).

Do you meet with parents, too?

Yes! Many parents participate in their child's therapy or in family therapy. In addition, I often meet with parents separately to provide guidance in support of both their child’s therapy goals and their child's overall well being.

How can I help my child have a successful video session?

Try to set up the call for your child in a space where they have strong Wi-Fi signal and privacy from siblings and household visitors. It is helpful to make sure the device is fully charged, to run a “Pre Call Test” on Doxy to make sure all technology is working well, and to suggest a quick bathroom visit for your child before the video call begins. As long as your child follows your “house rules” and it is not too distracting, it is okay for your child to have snacks, beverages, fidgets, etc. nearby during their appointment. It may be useful to have a favorite stuffy nearby for comfort, and paper, pencil or markers nearby in case your child wants to jot down ideas or draw during their appointment.

You say you specialize in working with children under 12. What happens if my child turns 12 while they are working with you?

If a child’s therapy is working well for them when they turn 12, they are most welcome to continue in their work with me. Many do! In my experience, the pre-established therapeutic relationship is beneficial to navigating the challenges of middle school and high school.
